FOR MEN

A pedicure treatment for men? Nonsense, isn’t it? Or is it?

Most men weren’t raised with some awareness as to how to take care of their hands and feet. Maintenance and care of one of the most hard-working body parts is seen as ‘more for women’ or ‘an unnecessary luxury’.

Until they get problems with their feet. The list of ailments that can result from unkempt feet is long…from ingrown toenails and fungal nails to calluses and corns.
The fact is that regular chiropodist treatments can help to reduce the risk of disease and infection, especially in men who may be at higher risk because of a high level of activity (professional and amateur athletes) or conditions such as diabetes.

To prevent problems, men must become aware of the fact that good foot care is a normal part of personal hygiene and is just as much a part of it as a visit to the dentist or hairdresser. A real man is well cared for from head to toe!

FOR WOMEN

For most women, foot care is a more integrated part of personal hygiene. Maybe because women have about 4 times as many foot problems as men?

Many women spend most of their lives wearing shoes that are either (too) tight and have high heels or completely flat and without any kind of support. This results in calluses, hammertoes, corns, calluses, winter toes, neuromas, ankle sprains or ingrown toenails.

Women, more than men, often wear shoes in the wrong size. From the age of 30, feet get a little bigger every year and this is especially the case for women who have had children or who have had a significant weight loss or gain.

In addition, the fat cushions at the bottom of your feet deteriorate with age. It is important to have your feet measured from time to time and to wear well-fitting, well-made shoes. What about high heels? It’s no problem to wear those once in a while…but see them as your sit-down shoes :).
The fact is that regular chiropodist treatments can help to prevent or alleviate some of these problems. By detecting an abnormal position at an early stage, measuring your feet and looking at your shoe size, and then giving advice on what steps you can take to prevent problems in the future.

What about your feet?
Do you have pain in your feet? Do they look good? Or are you sometimes barely able to walk a mile without pain in your feet and are you hiding your nails under a layer of nail polish? You may not know exactly how to achieve this, but feet in good condition do their job much better. So make an appointment with me, and together we will look at the condition and position of your feet and toenails. I promise you that you will feel much better!

FOR CHILDREN

A chiropodist treatment for children? Well, that’s a bit over the top, isn’t it? I surely can cut those little nails myself, can’t I?

We teach our children how to brush their teeth, tell them to take a shower every day and to go to the hairdresser and dentist regularly. But do we also tell our children how to take proper care of their feet?

As many as 15,000 children regularly visit a chiropodist with feet problems… ranging from ingrown toenails to foot fungus. According to ProVoet, the national association for pedicures and chiropodists, this is often due to a lack of knowledge of both parents and children. There is little or no knowledge about how to safely cut toenails and how to properly dry feet after showering.

And off course we also want to spoil our children, so we allow them to wear shoes that they think are gorgeous or cool…without paying attention to proper fit or footbed. We know that our children grow fast…but we often forget that their feet grow even faster. While this is crucial for the healthy development of the child’s foot.

How are your children’s feet doing?
Do your kids complain about foot pain? Do their feet look healthy? Do your children run and play normally and do their feet smell good? As a child, you may never have been to a chiropodist yourself, but your grandparents didn’t go to the dentist every six months either.

Your children’s feet also do a much better job when they are in good condition. And you can prevent problems later in life by teaching your children to love their feet now. So make an appointment with me, we will look at the condition of your children’s feet together and I will teach you how to take good care of them and quickly identify any problems.
